“13 years of fighting for answers. 51 endometriosis lesions, a chocolate cyst, and my appendix were all removed across two surgeries with @seckinmd,” the 27-year-old posted on Instagram this week.

“My hernia from giving birth that was unzipping –— was taken care of. I can FINALLY say that I’m feeling better. Genuinely healing.”

The wildlife conservationist said she can now “function in everyday life without wanting to throw up or pass out from the pain”.

“Slowly, slowly gaining my strength back. I cannot express the gravity of my emotions as I am beginning to recognise myself again,” she wrote.

Bindi said she felt “ashamed” as a teenager and young woman when she was told her pain was just a part of “being a woman”.

“I felt lesser. I felt hurt. I felt weak. That is not ok. Young girls and women shouldn’t feel alone with pain in the driver’s seat of their lives,” she wrote.

“We need to take away the stigma of talking about women’s health. It’s time to have open discussions and make change on a global scale.”

In May, Bindi was forced to miss the 2025 Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas after she was rushed to hospital to have her appendix removed.

“Healing,” she wrote in an Instagram post after she came out of surgery. “Thank you for your incredible words of support and kindness. The reason I share my health journey is because more girls and women desperately need answers to their undiagnosed pain.”

“I’ve battled with endometriosis for more than 12 years. This disease is crippling and can make you feel incredibly isolated. We need to raise awareness and change the narrative for women’s health. I see you, your pain is real, and you deserve answers and genuine health care. For more information visit @endofound.”

Bindi’s brother, Robert Irwin, originally revealed the news that Bindi’s appendix ruptured on May 10, the same day as the annual Steve Irwin Gala event.

“She’s going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,” he told People Magazine

The 21-year-old added that his mum Terri also missed the gala to help Bindi with her recovery.

“She’s just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes,” he shared. “She came to Las Vegas and was ready to come to the gala, put on a brave face in a lot of discomfort and a lot of pain and said, ‘Nope, I’m just going to tough it out, I’m going to go for it’,” he explained.

“But the surgeon said, ‘No, your appendix is going. That thing’s gotta come out.’ Health has to come first.”

Robert added that his sister was “devastated” she couldn’t make the event, and that her mum couldn’t be there either.

Bindi later shared an update about her health, confirming that her surgery was successful.

“I just wanted to thank you so much for your incredible well wishes. I just got out of surgery about an hour ago.I had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed. And they kindly stitched up my hernia as well,” she said in a video from her hospital bed.

“Thank you guys for your kind words, for your support. I’m sorry if I’m a little out of it in this video. But I just wanted you to know that I’m on the road to recovery. One step at a time. And I am so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family.”
