Despite her life in the spotlight, Australian sweetheart Phoebe Tonkin managed to keep her relationship with now-husband, Bernard Lagrange a secret for a long time.
The Boy Swallows Universe shocked fans across the globe when she shared a collection of film images from her “summer of love” featuring a hard relationship launch.
But fans didn’t just meet her boyfriend, as Phoebe showed off the shiny new accessory on her ring finger – confirming her engagement to Bernard.
“We got engaged in Provence, in a house by ourselves, just the two of us,” the 35-year-old confessed to Vogue.
After this glimpse into her romantic life, Phoebe’s relationship went underground for a few months. That is until she walked down the aisle on May 10, 2025.
With Vogue’s exclusive look into the stars’ wedding, it was revealed Phoebe walked down the aisle in a custom Chanel couture gown at the All Souls Church before a reception at Eleven Madison Park in New York.
“When I walked down the aisle and saw Bernie… my dad had to whisper to me to remember to breathe. It took my breath away,” Phoebe told Vogue.
From the images captured on the day, the wedding was everything you’d expect from a Phoebe Tonkin event – romantic silhouettes, intimate moments captured on film and contemporary.
Some well known Australian celebrities were in attendance including former The Vampires Diaries co-star Claire Holt who was one of the bridesmaids, Samara Weaving, and Teresa Palmer.
Aside from these two major relationship milestones for Phoebe and Bernard, they haven’t shared any snippets into their love-life. But what we do know is that Bernard Lagrange works in the world of art.
He studied art history at Princeton University, and now works at Sotheby’s, a fine-arts company that is one of the world’s biggest brokers of art, jewellery and collectables.
Prior to her engagement to Bernard, Phoebe was most recently linked to musician, Alex Greenwald in 2020.
Before that, she was in a relationship with her The Vampire Diaries co-star Paul Wesley on-and-off from September 2013 to October 2017.
