At first, The Buccaneers was a TV show curing many Bridgerton fans’ hangovers as they waited between seasons.
Now, the period drama featuring gripping romance, coming-of-age pain and Gilded Age fashion will all return in a second season.

Inspired by Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel of the same name, the upcoming season of The Buccaneers was confirmed more than a year after the first season wrapped in December 2023.
Naturally, many fans are questioning what to expect from the young American women whose worlds turned upside down when they relocated to London, England.
Below, TV WEEK has answered your burning questions regarding The Buccaneers season two.
When will season two of The Buccaneers release?
The long awaited season two of The Buccaneers will premiere to Apple TV+ on June 18, 2025. The season will feature eight episodes, dropping weekly.

What is the plot for The Buccaneers season two?
Viewers’ hearts broke following the season one finale when Nan – who was caught between a love triangle with Theo and Guy – made the tough decision to sacrifice her feelings and protect her sister, Jinny. But we won’t be giving up hope anytime soon!
Some other cliffhangers include the identity of Nan’s biological mother, Jinny’s abusive marriage, Mr. and Mrs. St George’s divorce, and we’ll undoubtedly see more from our favourite love triangle.
After being considered invaders in the first season – travelling from America to England – London has become the girl’s home. Ultimately, these young girls have been forced to grow up fast as they face the struggles of many women coming of age – romance, lust, jealousy, births and deaths.
“Nan is the Duchess of Tintagel, the most influential woman in the country. Conchita is Lady Brightlingsea, heroine to a wave of young American heiresses. And Jinny is on every front-page, wanted for the kidnap of her unborn child,” a season two synopsis from Apple TV+ reads.
“Last time we got a taste of England. This time we’re in for a veritable feast.”

What is Leighton Meester’s role in The Buccaneers?
In October 2024, it was confirmed Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester would be joining The Buccaneers in the second season as guest character, Nell. This is Leighton’s first role in a period drama after recently working on Good Cop/ Bad Cop in Australia.
Nell is a woman with a secret – she is the biological mother of Nan, who believed her mother was Patricia St. George in the first season.
An exclusive clip released by Vanity Fair has revealed Nell and Patricia’s awkward reunion, at Nan’s wedding of all places. In the publication’s interview with series creator Katherine Jakeways, the actress gave some insight into the guest character.
“We knew we wanted Nell to be feisty,” she said. She’s no pushover. And we wanted to really care about her, to understand why she gave Nan up, and for that relationship to be as complicated as all relationships are in The Buccaneers. People making bad decisions doesn’t necessarily make them bad people—it makes them human.”
