Method
Line an oven tray with baking paper.
PATTIES: In a bowl combine all ingredients. Season with salt and pepper and mix well. Shape into 4 even, flat patties. Cover and chill until required.
Heat oil in a large frying pan on high. Cook patties 3-4 mins each side, until well browned. Transfer to tray. Top each patty with a cheese slice. Place in a 180°C preheated oven until ready to serve.
Meanwhile, cook bacon in same frying pan on high, 1-2 mins each side, until crisp. Keep warm.
ONION RINGS: In a small bowl combine flour and water to a smooth paste. Season. Heat oil in a medium heavy-based saucepan until a drop of batter sizzles as soon as it is added. Working in batches, dip onion rings into batter, shaking off excess. Lower into oil and fry1-2 mins until golden. Drain on paper towel.
To serve, top roll bases with lettuce, tomato, patty, bacon, beetroot and egg. Drizzle with sauce. Accompany with onion rings.
